2019 Toyota Rav4 Limited

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes with one of the segment’s most comprehensive technology packages, which bundles plenty of connectivity and driver-assistance features. The 2019 RAV4 also is more powerful and more efficient than past versions. What will really get your attention, though, is a fresh design that makes this model the most rugged-looking RAV4 yet.

A compact SUV, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 seats five. It’s available in LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure and Limited trim levels with a gasoline-only powertrain. The LE, XLE and Limited trims also offer a hybrid powertrain, and the XSE trim is available only as a hybrid. With the standard powertrain, the RAV4 provides a four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional. The hybrid powertrain switches to a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT) with electrically enabled all-wheel drive.

Exterior

Past RAV4 generations have emphasized their crossover roots with sleek designs and minimalist grilles. The 2019 model shatters that reputation by showing off an especially complicated and aggressive front end. One highlight is a large lower intake that looks like it’s set inside a protective brush guard. Toyota also kits out the RAV4 with thick molded trim around its wheel openings and skid-plate-style trim for both bumpers.

Standard features include LED headlights, LED taillights, power-adjustable mirrors, dual chrome exhaust tips, roof rails and 17-inch covered steel wheels. With the Adventure trim, the RAV4 shows off a more robust appearance for its upper grille, roof rails and bumpers. The RAV4 is further available with LED daytime running lights, fog lights, puddle lights, a power sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, 17- through 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and heated mirrors with built-in turn signals.

Interior

The 2019 RAV4’s cabin is clean and modern, highlighted by a multilevel dashboard that’s separated into distinct horizontal layers. Structural details, such as the deeply carved door panels and the trim around gear-shift console, offer high-tech industrial flair. The standard 60/40-split folding seats can be pushed flat to create a cargo capacity of 69.8 cubic feet. You’ll still get 37.6 cubic feet of storage space with those seats in use.

Base models are equipped with fabric upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way manually adjustable front-passenger seat, climate control and a multifunction steering wheel on a tilt-and-telescoping column. The RAV4 also is available with leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated outboard second-row seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.
